Self-Advocacy for Cancer Survivors
The Medical Minds team has an ongoing 12-year relationship with the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS). Since 1998, we have branded, scripted, edited, recorded, and packaged the award winning Cancer Survival Toolbox® in English and Spanish in collaboration with contributors from NCCS, Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), Association of Oncology Social Workers (AOSW), and National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
Objectives
- Help cancer survivors build self-advocacy skills
- Continue to expand access to the Cancer Survival Toolbox
Target Audiences
- Cancer survivors (anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer)
- Friends/family/caregivers of cancer survivors
Tactical Execution
The Cancer Survival Toolbox is a free set of self-learning audio CDs and a comprehensive Resource Booklet designed to help anyone at any stage of illness who is facing hard decisions and changes in life because of cancer. Cancer survivors and caregivers can access what they need, when they need it—whether newly diagnosed, actively undergoing treatment, finished with treatment, or in some sort of transitional stage.
Results
It is a privilege for our entire Medical Minds team to continue to contribute to this unique program that has been accessed by hundreds of thousands of cancer survivors and is used by healthcare professionals in many major cancer centers in the US.
